Review: Where the Wild Things Are

    wherethewildthingsare

This film is an adaptation of Maurice Sendak’s classic children’s story, Where the Wild Things Are. It is a tale of a lonely and imaginative boy, Max, who after turning his back on his family adventures to another world and joins the chaos of a dysfunctional group of misfits. It is a classic tale of how the grass really isn’t greener on the other side and Max comes to find out that his new family is just as torn as his own, if not more. Things are amazing and grand at first but small cracks get larger as Max starts to feel uneasy and un-welcomed in his new world and comes to realize the love he left behind. Read more >>

Geek Out! Awesome Futuristic Poster for Daybreakers

daybreakersSpierig Brothers’ Daybreakers a vampire movie starring Ethan Hawke and Willem Dafoe has debuted over on MTV today.  The poster seems like an image taken from a scene from The Matrix, but actually it is quite impressive.  If you take a longer look you an interpret that this could be some sort of human harvesting machine for human blood.  I have been waiting for a really good vampire movie to come out and now, this might just be it.  Something much more different than Underworld or Blade. The Hobbit & Magneto Update from Sir Ian McKellen

hobbitmagnetoOur friends over at Empire we recently lucky enough to run into Sir Ian McKellen at the San Sebastian Film Festival and asked him about two big projects: The Hobbit and X-Men Origins: Magneto.  We all know good news always comes out of that guys mouth!  McKellen did not have much to say about Magneto but what he did say was this, “There’s meant to be a Magneto script floating around, but I’ve not read it, so I suspect it wouldn’t involve me.” McKellen also joked that “they can’t have someone whose face is as lined as mine any longer” since it’ll focus on a young Magneto, which is an already known fact.  On the other hand, he did have quite a bit to say about The Hobbit, his other huge project! top5Over the past year I couldn’t help but to notice the obsession of Disney movies college students have.  As a college student myself, I was quite surprised to see that a majority of my friends really, really like to watch their favorite films from their childhood (not to mention sing along which absolutely drives me nuts, is it really necessary!).  Too my surprise again, it wasn’t just the girls in my dorm.. there are guys to that do like those good ole Disney movies!  So I had an idea, why not take a poll of their favorite cartoon animated Disney movies!  It was a nice break from just posting about all the main movie news floating around the net. Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day Sequel Stalled!

independenceLatino Review got there hands on a nice review with Roland Emmerich, and you won’t believe what they discussed.   They discussed Emmerich’s latest project a sequel to Independence Day!  Well don’t get to excited, the film has been stalled due to troubles working out “deals”.  Emmerich did not let the chance down to get everyone excited by stating, “Oh yeah! There’s a story. There’s a very really good great story, a very cool one.”  Hopefully the film gets back on track because I know I want to see it! Read more >>

Best Animated Feature Category Might Have Five Nominees

    cloudychancemeatballs

The Best Animated Feature Film category for the Oscars usually only has three nominees, as of right now there are 16 potential nominees!  Over the past few years the Oscar ends up in the hands of Pixar for their phenominal work, but occasionally it ends up in someone elses hands like Wallace & Gromit or Happy Feet. This year however it is most likely that Pixar will be taking it home.  The category has usually featured only three nominees, but word is that might finally be bumped up to five this year. It’s not due to a change in rules, it’s simply that there are enough animated movies to allow for five nominees. Read more >>
