Any movie that has Justin Timberlake starring in I tend to turn my head and never watch it.  I don’t know why but it might just be the fact that he was in N*sync or the fact that he is just Justin Timberlake.  I broke my little habit of looking away recently when on of my suite mates had the movie Black Snake Moan, which was actually quite interesting.  If you are anything like me, and base the movies you want to see by who is in it, then you most definitely have to watch Alpha Dog.  This awesome movie led me to create the Movies you didn’t give a Chance category which I think will be really fun!

Alpha Dog was released in January of 2007, and was inspired by true events that took place in 2000.  The movie draws you in and lets you become very attached to the characters, you begin to feel like you are there yourself.  The film tells the story of Johnny Truelove (Emile Hirsch), a young drug dealer in Claremont, California and his circle of friends, which includes Frankie Ballenbacher (Justin Timberlake), Tiko “TKO” Martinez (Fernando Vargas) and Elvis Schmidt (Shawn Hatosy).  With every gang there comes conflicts, in this case it is a member of the gang Jake Mazursky (Ben Foster), who owes Johnny a $1200 drug debt.  With an ill attempt to pay Johnny back the two begin a war in which eventually leads to Jake’s younger brother Zack Mazursky (Anton Yelchin) being kidnapped.  Zack has the time of his life with Frankie and they become “bros”, however not everything is what it seems.

I don’t want to give the movie away for you so you must see this one for yourself.  The film is truly, and this is coming from me, a very sad movie that will linger in your mind for hours after it ends.  It is incredibly sad that something so terrible had to come about from a $1,200 debt.

Alpha Dog is officially the first film in Movie you didn’t give a Chance category.  Make sure you add it to the top of your netflix que!
