  • Prince of Persia Featurette: “Behind The Scenes: Dastan”

    Disney has released a new two-and-a-half-minute behind the scenes featurette for the live-action big screen adaptation of the popular video game Prince of Persia: Sands of Time.  The featurette focuses on Jake Gyllenhaal’s character Dastan and shows off how the film was filmed and its special effects.  Check out the video after the jump.

    Follows a prince who must stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world.

    Notes:

    • Director Mike Newell’s credits include “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire,” “Donnie Brasco,” starring Al Pacino and Johnny Depp, “Pushing Tin,” “Four Weddings and a Funeral” and “Dance With A Stranger.”
    • Among numerous other awards and nominations, Jerry Bruckheimer Films have been honored with 41 Academy Award® nominations, with six wins, and 23 Golden Globe® nominations, with four wins.

    Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is directed by English director Mike Newell, of Donnie Brasco, Pushing Tin, Mona Lisa Smile, and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire previously. The screenplay was co-written by Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard (The Uninvited, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice) and the story was developed by Jordan Mechner, one of the original creators of the video game. Disney will be bringing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time to theaters everywhere starting on May 28th, 2010 next summer.
